We didn't learn the first time, and bought another M1087 FMTV to turn into a tiny house on wheels. Joking, of course. We've had so much fun building the first M1087FMTV not-so-tiny-tiny-house-on-wheels, that we want to do it again!
We will capture the build process and will be sharing it. (We are both a bit camera shy, but getting over it)
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
Some of you may know we've been living in Bantha, our camo M1087, for the last couple of years.
We found out about another M1087, so we parked Bantha and took the jeep off the tow and headed for Texas to check it out
We loved our drive to Texas, and even have some Texas oil on the hood to prove we were there.
It's a good drive.
We finally arrived.
Beautiful scenery, and we made it to the Brazoria County Military Museum.
Oh my gosh - that place is a candy store for 12-year-old grown-up men.
There were two M1087s for sale.
SERVICE
We inspected both of them and finally decided which one we were going to take home.
They both needed some work. The slides on them were stuck in an "out position," so we had a local machine shop come over and help us figure out how to make some new couplings so that we could get the slides retracted.
The vehicle also needed a full service and some new batteries.
Two more! Now we need two more!
That's what you got out of that?
You need two more?
Dustin can help you with one he's got one here for ya.
FIRST BATH
After servicing and getting the slides retracted, we head out for a bath.
A lot of mud flinging off the tires!
A word, a few words for your new baby's first bath? The first bath video!
Texas boys have all the toys. Oh my goodness, most of the places we went had so many fun toys.
A lot of these are for sale. I think we wanted to take home more than one rig.
LEAVING TEXAS
You know, we spent about a week there in Texas. Wonderful people we got to spend time with. They are near and dear to us, and we'll stay that way forever.
Then it was time to head out and start back towards Arizona, where we left our house, so we hooked the jeep back up and off we went.
After 900 miles and making our way through Texas into New Mexico, we had some engine trouble and had to stop at a local truck center for repairs.
NEW MEXICO
So while the truck was in for repairs, we needed an injector replaced and a new ECM. We were kind of stuck in New Mexico without a house for several days, so we made the best use of it. As you can see.
We had plenty of cocktails. We visited White Sands National Park a couple of times, which was absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend it.
We were also able to go to Carlsbad Caverns, and we had a good time there.
With the truck repairs finally wrapped up, our sightseeing in New Mexico was over, and we were super excited to drive that new truck back to meet Bantha
