This is one feature of the M1087 that makes it even more unique - the way the floor folds. The fold-up floor in the M1087 FMTV conversion is one of those deceptively simple features that changes everything.
By lifting and securing sections of the floor, you instantly create vertical space for hauling gear, bikes, or bulky equipment without sacrificing your living setup. Drop it back down, and you’re back to a flat, functional living area in seconds. It’s all about flexibility, work mode to camp mode, without tearing anything apart. Smart, rugged, and built to adapt just like the truck itself.
This was a major design challenge - and Zack’s plastics engineering skills were a real bonus in this area. He is trained and used to designing expertise to fold, flow into a hot mold.
Need to know: As seen in the video, these were designed to be hand-cranked. We only do that when necessary, otherwise Zack shows in the video how he uses a drill. \*We don’t have a crew of soldiers to do the cranking for us.”
This is why the M1087 is so different from other conversions. To extend the cab changes everything when we are traveling.
IMPORTANT
Don’t use an impact drill. It will break the gearbox.
